PSE index, peso climb

The main Philippine share index rose 1.83 percent while the peso gained against the US dollar on Monday.
The peso closed at P52.31 from Friday's P52.44. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.064 billion from $1.396 billion on Friday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended at 7,938.35 points, up 142.37. In the broader market, there were 113 gainers, 72 losers and 62 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.02 billion worth P7.02 billion from Friday's 692.53 million shares valued at P8.7 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 15 centavos to P49.40; Metro Pacific, up 30 centavos to P5.10 and SM Prime, up 65 centavos to P34.75. DMS
