PSE index, peso ends below P52 to US dollar

The main Philippine stock index closed lower but the peso gained against the US dollar on Friday.
The peso settled at P51.96 from Thursday's P52.18. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1,114,690 from $ 1.114,300.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index finished at 7,871.11, down 40.21. In the broader market, there were 94 losers, 91 gainers and 62 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.69 billion shares worth P10.17 billion from Thursday's 453.90 million shares valued at P4.12 billion.
Among most active shares were SM Investment Corp., down P5.00 to P1000; Ayala Corp., down P5.00 to P895 and BDO, up 20 centavos to P140.20. DMS
