PSE index, peso finish higher

The main Philippine share index closed higher on Wednesday.
The peso closed at P51.595 against the US dollar from P51.641 on Tuesday.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.159 billion from $1.366 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index settled at 7,915.30 points, up 74.99. In the broader market, there were 93 losers,. 87 gainers and 62 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 715.39 million shares valued at P5.55 billion from Tuesday's 631 million worth P4.5 billion.
Most active shares were led by BPI, up 90 centavos to P94; Metro Pacific, up 5 centavos to P4.95 and SM Investment Corp. up P9.00 to P1,004. DMS
