PSE index, peso vs dollar end lower

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended lower on Monday.
The peso closed at P50.90 against the US dollar from P50.76 on Friday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines ( BAP) reached $888.2 million from $849.9 million.
The PSE index settled at 5.479.35, down 62.60. In the broader market, there were 141 losers, 56 gainers and 32 unchanged,
Volume reached 445.94 million shares valued at P3.95 billion from Friday's 660.43 million shares worth P4.53 billion.
Most active shares were led by BDO, down P3.00 to P90; Puregold, down 50 centavos to P45.50 and Universal Robina Corp., down P 4.00 t0 P126. DMS
