PSE index slumps seven percent

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index slumped 7.07 percent on Thursday after days of gains.
The peso settled at P50.80 against the US dollar from P50.62 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $352.1 million from the prevous day's $248.6 million.
The:PSE index closed at 5,525.60 points, down 420.45. In the broader market, there were 153 losers, 50 gainers and 38 unchanged.
Volume reached 679.82 million shares worth P9.29 billion from Wednesday's 911.54 million shares valued at P9.1 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down P3.80 to P30.20; Ayala Corp., down P28 to P560 and SM Prime, down P2.35 to P29.55. DMS
