PSE index up on last trading day of April

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended higher on Thursday, the last trading day of April.
The Philippine peso settled at P50.40 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P50.51. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $906.8 million from the previous session's $498.5 million.
The PSE index ended at 5, 700.71, up 56.74 points. In the broader market, there were 120 gainers, 71 losers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 590.4 million shares worth P6.58 billion from Wednesday's 584.34 million shares valued at P4.54 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 95 centavos to P31.95; PLDT, up P29 to P1,299 and SM Prime, up five centavos to P31.
Markets will be closed Friday for May 1,Labor Day. Trading resumes on May 4, Monday. DMS
