PSE index up; peso at P48.51:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended 29.18 points higher to 5,997.14 on Monday.
In the broader market, there were 110 gainers, 99 losers and 37 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.128 billion shares worth P4.7 billion from Friday's 1.11 billion shares valued at P4.18 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, up 50 centavos to P28.85; SM Investment Corp., up P10 to P915; Ayala Land, up 90 centavos to P31.30 and Dito CME, up 20 centavos to P3.63.
Meanwhile, the peso closed at P48.51 against the US dollar from Friday's P48.54. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $212.6 million from $ 903.65 million. DMS
