PSE index up, peso slips vs US dollar

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE ) index closed slightly higher on Thursday.
The peso settled at P50.445 against the US dollar from P50.26 on Wednesday. Volume reached $565.61 million from the previous session's $390.5 million.
The PSE index gained 28.45 points to end at 5,674.70 points. In the broader market, there were 114 losers, 56 gainers and 53 unchanged.
Volume reached 1,005 billion shares worth P3.78 billion from Wednesday's 422.90 million shares valued at P4.79 billion.
Most active shares were led by Globe Telecom, up P66 to P2,170; BDO, down P2.20 to P96.80, Ayala Land unchanged at P32.50 and SM Prime, up P2.05 to P30.60. DMS
