PSE index up; PLDT shares down

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index rose on Wednesday as the index ended 39.16 points higher to 5,966.27.
In the broader market, there were 103 losers, 74 gainers and 47 unchanged.
The peso remained steady at P49,19 against the US dollar. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $551.71 million from Tuesday's $849.4 million.
Two days after President Rodrigo Duterte gave telcos until December to improve their services, share prices of PLDT ended P11 lower to P1,316.
DITO CME Holdings, whose DITO Telecommunity secured a franchise but has yet to operate, lost four centavos to P2.66.
Volume reached 1.18 billion shares worth P3.57 billion from Monday's 1.96 billion shares valued at P4.31 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., unchanged at P900; Jollibee, up P1.90 to P131 and Ayala Land, up P1.15 to P33.25. DMS
