PSE lower, peso closes at P50.97 vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index ended lower but the peso finished higher against the US dollar on Wednesday.
The peso gained 21 centavos to close at P50.97. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.162.99 billion from Tuesday's $1.396 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) settled at 7,933.76 points, down 21.48 points. In the broader market, there were 92 losers, 82 gainers and 61 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.17 billion shares worth P4.67 billion from Tuesday's 368.70 million valued at P6.04 billion.
Most active shares were led by Suntrust Home Developers, down one centavo to 91 centavos; SM Investment Corp., unchanged at P1,014 and Ayala Land, up 20 centavos to P49. DMS
