Slim gains for stocks, peso surges to P50.27:$1

Stocks were flat on Thursday, with the main index closing with slim gains.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index was 4,01 points higher to 7,876.66. In the broader market, there were 114 decliners, 83 gainers and 54 unchanged.
Volume reached 917 million shares worth P5.7 billion.
Some stocks which outperformed the index were led by Jolliville Holdings, which rose 22.58 percent to P5.70 and Philippine H2O Waters, which gained 16.23 percent to P9.24.
Among most active shares were BDO Unibank, up 0.79 percent to P127 and Megaworld Corp, up 1,.7 percent to P 4.79.
The peso surged to close at P50.27 from P50,.35 on Wednesday against the US dollar. Volume reached $503.50 million from $576 million. DMS
