Stock index cut losses, peso at P51.90:$1

Last-minute failed to hoist the Philippine Stock Exchange index to positive territory on Friday.
The index finished 7.20 points lower to 8,458.57 after being down by more than 100 points at one stage
In the broader market, there were 141 decliners, 74 gainers and 41 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 4.87 billion shares worth P7.25 billion from Thursday's 6.9 billion shares valued at P7.6 billion.
Foreigners remained net sellers, with P3.3 billion worth sold and P2.69 billion bought.
Most traded shares were led by JG Summit, down 4.99 percent to P64.70; Ayala Land, down 1.66 percent to P41.50; MRC Allied, up 5.48 percent to 77 centavos and Now Corp., down 2.39 percent to P13.08.
The peso closed at P51.90 against the US dollar from P51.92. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $733.80 million from $863.50 million on Thursday. DMS
