Stock index down for first time in four sessions

The stock index fell for the first time in four trading sessions on Wednesday, the first transaction for the month of May.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 83.18 points to 7,736.07. In the broader market, there were 117 gainers, 87 decliners and 43 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.29 billion shares worth P6.53 billion from Friday's 974.7 million valued at P6.46 billion. Foreigners remained net sellers with P4.37 billion bought and P4.03 billion sold.
Most active shares included International Container Terminal Services, 2.78 percent up to 86.95; Universal Robina Corp., 1.07 percent down to P139 and Meralco, 2.42 percent up to P329.80.
The peso closed at P51.86 against the US dollar from Friday's P51.74, Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $556.2 million, the same as Friday's turnover. DMS
