Stock index ends slightly lower, peso at P52.215:$1

Stocks staged a late rally as the Philippine Stock Exchange cut its losses on Monday.
The index, which was down by as much as 113 points, ended 38.42 points lower at 7,932.38. In the broader market, there were 138 decliners, 65 gainers and 41 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.75 billion shares valued at P6.33 billion from Friday's 2.55 billion worth P8.65 billion.
Most traded shares were led by BDO Unibank, down 1.43 percent to P138; Ayala Corp., up 3.49 percent to P950; Ayala Land, down 0.64 percent to P40.10 and Now Corp., down 15.14 percent to P6.85.
The peso closed at P52.215 against the US dollar from P52.39 on Friday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $690 million from P701.20 million. DMS
