Stock index fall past 8,000-point mark, peso at P52.39:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended the week lower for the fifth straight time on Friday.
The index lost 153.65 points to end at 7,970.80. In the broader market, there were 143 decliners, 65 gainers and 39 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.55 billion shares worth P8.65 billion from Thursday's 2.01 billion shares valued at P8.37 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P5.79 billion worth of shares sold compared to P4.72 billion bought.
Most traded shares were led by Ayala Land Inc., down 3.81 percent to P40.35; BDO Unibank, down 2.44 percent to P140; Ayala Corp., down 2.03 percent to P918 and Jollibee, up 0.42 percent to P288.
The peso closed at P52.39 against the US dollar to P52.20 on Thursday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $701.20 million from $717.40 million. DMS
