Stock index gains more than one percent

Stocks rose on Thursday, as the main index gained more than one percent.
The Philippine Stock Exchange finished at 8,043.07, up 99.14 points for a gain of 1.23 percent. In the broader market, there were 1.45 billion shares worth P5.9 billion from Wednesday's 1.23 billion valued at P6,5 billion.
Foreigners were net buyers for the first time in around two weeks. Foreigners bought P3.495 billion and sold P3.343 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Bloomberry Resorts, up 7 percent to P12.84; Metrobank, down 0.18 percent to P81.80; Ayala Corp., up 1.14 percent to P978 and SM Prime, down 3.45 percent to P34.45.
The peso closed at P52.03 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P51.945. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $627.2 million from $583.6 million. DMS
