Stock index hangs on to 8,000 point level

Philippine stocks ended the week lower as the main share index clung to 8,000 points on Friday.
But the peso gained to close at P52.535 against the US dollar from P52.86 on Thursday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.0154 billion from $950.49 million
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended at 8,064.90, down 11.70 points. In the broader market, there were 101 gainers, 87 decliners and 50 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.35 billion shares worth P7.9 billion from Thursday's 1.57 billion shares worth P7.5 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Ayala Corp., up 0.99 percent to P921.50; BDO Unibank,. up 1.11 percent to P136.50; SM Investments Corp., down 0.10 percent to P989 and Premiere Horizon Alliance, up 16.67 percent to P1.05. DMS
