Stock index lower, peso relatively unchanged

The main stock index ended lower while the peso finished relatively unchanged on Monday.
The peso closed at P53.46 against the US dollar from Friday's P53.45. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $485.89 million from $383.85 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 7,832.22, down 23.49 points. In the broader market, there were 101 decliners, 85 gainers and 54 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 736.95 million shares worth P5.6 billion from Friday's 1.08 billion shares worth P8.02 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, as selling reached P2.41 billion compared to purchases of P1.7 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Alliance Global, up 3.77 percent to P14,32; GT Capital, up 0.40 percent to P880 and San Miguel Corp., up 3.55 percent to P175. DMS
