Stock index, peso close higher

The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 97.49 points higher to 7,064.33, and the peso finished at P53.64 against the US dollar, up 16 centavos from Thursday.
In the broader market, there were 99 decliners, 80 gainers and 56 shares unchanged on Friday.
Volume amounted to 892.97 million shares worth P4.97 billion from Thursday's 870.5 million worth P5.5 billion.
Most actively traded shares were led by Universal Robina Corp., unchanged at P130; ISM Communications Corp., 7.48 percent to P3.45; IRC Properties Inc., 7.14 percent to P2.65 and San Miguel Food and Beverage, up 3.01 percent to P85.50.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $723 million from the previous day's $667.1 million. DMS
