Stock index recovers from a year low, peso rallies to P52.15:$1

The Philippine stock index recovered from a one-year low on Thursday, as it ended above the 7,600 mark.
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index finished at 7,617.42 points, up 59.51. In the broader market, there were 112 gainers, 89 decliners and 36 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 780.9 million worth P5.1 billion from Wednesday's 1.7 billion valued at P 6.2 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, selling P3.03 billion while buying P2.54 billion.
Most active shares were led by Jollibee, down 0.57 percent to P280; Ayala Land, up 3.02 percent to P41 and Ayala Corp., 2.37 percent up to P930.
The peso gained to end at P52.15 against the US dollar from P52.3, an 11-year low, on Wednesday. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines amounted to $736.2 million from $714.64 million on the previous day. DMS
