Stock index sets new all-time high

The Philippine Stock Exchange index set a new all-time high on Monday, one day before the fourth quarter growth figures are to be announced. The index finished at 8,950.62, up 34.70 points . The previous all-time high was 8,923.72 set Jan 9. 2018. Earlier, the index set a new intra-day high of 8, 975.12 points. Volume reached 879 million shares worth P 8.027 billion from Friday's 914.34 million worth P10.02 billion. Foreigners were net buyers, with P4.74 billion worth of stocks bought and P4.3 billion sold. In the broader market, however, there were 128 decliners, 99 gainers and 52 issues unchanged. Volume reached Telecommunications firm Now Corporation led most active shares, gaining 15.95 percent to P4.86 followed by the LT Group, up 6.5 percent to P24.50 and BPI, down 0.08 percent to P123.40. The peso closed at P50.835 against the US dollar from P50.72. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System rose to $868.50 million from $819.20 million. DMS
