Stocks bounce back after Wednesday decline

Stocks recovered from the previous day's decline and an early dip to finish higher on Thursday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended 55.64 points higher to 8,487.37 after being down by as much as 53 points in early trading. In the broader market, there were 102 gainers, 97 decliners and 49 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 900. 43 million shares worth P7.88 billion. Foreigners were net sellers with P4.04 billion sold compared to P3.57 billion bought.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Corp., up 4.3 percent to P1116, Ayala Land, up 2.12 percent to P43.35 and Metrobank, up 2.56 percent to P92.
The peso closed at P51,53 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P51.405. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $565.70 million from $497.60 million the previous day. DMS
