Stocks close at two-month lows

Stocks fell on Friday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index ending at its lowest in two months.

The index closed at 8, 144.02 points, down 110.01. In the broader market, there were 134 decliners, 59 gainers and 45 issues unchanged.

Volume reached 1.48 billion shares valued at 9.74 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P5.57 billion sold and P5.38 billion bought.

Most actively traded shares included Ayala Land, down 1.4 percent to P42.20, Meralco, down 3.05 percent to P305.40 and BDO Unibank, up 0.68 percent to P147.

The peso finished at P50.37 against the US dollar from P50.27. At the Philippine Dealing System, volume reached $444.70 million from $728.90 million. DMS
