Stocks close higher, peso at P52.03:$1

Stocks extended gains on lesser volume Tuesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange Index finishing 92.40 points higher to 8,592.38.
In the broader market, there were 119 gainers, 94 decliners and 43 unchanged. Volume went down to 3.6 billion shares valued at P9.25 billion from Monday's 4.81 billion shares worth P.989 billion.
Foreigners remained net sellers, with P3.89 billion sold while buying reached P3.612 billion.
Most actively traded shares were led by Ayala Land, unchanged at P42.50; Now Cor., unchanged at P13.70; mining and energy firm APC Group, up 6.06 percent to 70 centavos and BDO Unibank, up 4.67 percent to P157.
The peso closed at P52.03 against the US dollar, down from P51.86 on Monday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System rose to $648.70 million from $516 million. DMS
