Stocks decline, peso gains

Stocks declined on Monday, with the key index losing more than one percent.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 8,330.092, down 1.23 percent or 103.46 points. In the broader market, there were 115 decliners, 72 gainers and 49 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 1.57 billion shares worth P8.22 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P5.43 billion sold compared with P3.93 billion bought.
Among most actively traded shares were Meralco, up 3.7 percent to P305.80, Ayala Land, down 2.97 percent to P42.5o and D&L Industries, down 5.26 percent to P10.80.
The peso closed at P51.205 against the US dollar from P51.239 on Friday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $464.70 million from $732.90 million. DMS
