Stocks down, peso at P50.795:$1

Stocks ended lower on Thursday despite foreigners being net buyers, with Universal Robina Corp. and JG Summit posting declines.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 19.58 points lower to 7,966.25. In the broader market, there were 111 decliners, 84 gainers and 52 unchanged.
Universal Robina Corp was the day's most active issue as it closed 4.91 percent lower to P139.50 with value turnover of P432.66 million. JG Summit also declined 6.21 percent to P69.45.
PLDT gained 4.71 percent to P1,712 despite reporting first half income was 6 percent year-on-year.
Volume reached 1.17 million shares worth P5.17 billion. Foreigners bought P2.47 billion worth of shares while selling P2.30 billion.
The peso declined to P50.795 from P50.575 against the US dollar. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System rose to $692.55 million from $631.50 million. DMS
