Stocks ended lower on Wednesday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange index declined 70.83 points to 8,348.74.
In the broader market, there were 122 decliners, 99 gainers and 40 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 6.59 billion worth P7.48 billion from Tuesday's 4.85 billion shares valued at P6.56 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P3.82 billion unloaded and P2.39 billion bought.
Most active shares were led by Metrobank, up 0.52 percent to P96.50; Ayala Corp., up 0.58 percent to P1038 and Bank of the Philippine Islands, down 2.95 percent to P115.20.
The peso closed at P52. 07 against the US dollar from P52.04 on Tuesday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $500.35 million from $359.80 million. DMS
