Stocks end higher despite foreign selling

Stocks ended higher on Monday despite foreign selling.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished 85.78 points higher to 8,422.82. In the broader market, there were 103 gainers, 100 decliners and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 853.22 million worth P5.66 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P2.9 billion sold while P 2.71 billion were bought.
Among most active shares were SM Prime, up 1.94 percent to P36.70; Metrobank, up 0.71 percent to P99, Cosco Capital, up 2.42 percent to P7.63 and Transpacific Broadband, up 11.43 percent to P4.29.
The peso closed at P50.48 against the US dollar from P50.445 on Friday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $467.10 million from $447.30 million. DMS
