Stocks end lower, peso at P51.48:$1

Stocks closed lower on Friday as the main index lost 1.64 percent.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended at 8,503 points, down by 141.39. In the broader market, there were 138 decliners, 64 gainers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.36 billion shares valued at P8.62 billion from Thursday's 1.03 billion shares valued at P7.11 billion.
Foreigners bil;were net sellers for the 11th straight session, with P3.93 billion sold and P3.8 billion bought.
Among most active stocks were SM Investment Corp., up 0.51 percent to P985; Now Corp., up 0.56 percent to P7.20; Ayala Corp., down 3.55 percent to P1,005 and SM Prime, down 2.78 percent to P35.
The peso closed at P51.48 against the US dollar from P51.31. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $1.17 billion from $896 million. DMS
