Stocks end week flat after earlier record runs

Stocks ended flat on Friday, as it ended the week despite crossing new records earlier this week. The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished 1.37 points lower to 8,814.62. In the broader market, there were 103 decliners, 96 gainers and 48 issues unchanged. Volume reached 6.49 million shares worth P7.95 billion from Thursday's 919.1 million valued at P7.7 billion. Foreigners were net buyers, purchasing P4.5 billion while selling P4.358 billion. Among most traded shares were Security Bank, up 0.47 percent to P255.40; Ayala Equity Ventures, dpwn 2.25 percent to P73.70 and Metrobank, up 1.57 percent to P109.70. The peso closed at P50.40 against the US dollar from P50.36 on Thursday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $588.50 million from $833.70 million the previous day. DMS
