Stocks end week higher

Stocks gained on Friday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index up 21.88 points to end at 8,365,11 despite being down by at least 70 points before the noonday break.
In the broader market, there were 102 decliners, 87 gainers and 52 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 1.8 billion shares worth P9.11 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, unloading P5.13 billion and buying P4.66 billion worth of stocks.
Among most active shares were Ayala Land, up 3.73 percent to P44.50, Meralco, down 1,24 percent to P319 and Harbor Star Shipping Services, up 26.37 percent to P 3.93.
Harbor Star gained as it disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange a subsidiary acquired a 60 percent stake in a General Santos solar power operator.
The peso closed at P50.72 against the US dollar from P50.68. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $751.65 million from $604.70 million. DMS
