Stocks end week lower, peso at P53.51:$1

Philippine stocks ended the week lower on Friday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange index finished 63.50 points lower to 7,387.87.

The peso closed to P53.51 against the US dollar after hitting a low of P53.55. On Thursday, the peso closed at P53.53. Volume reached $474.05 million from $334.7 million.

In the broader market, there were 96 gainers, 93 decliners and 51 shares unchanged.

Volume went down to 568.58 million valued at P3.4 billion from Thursday's 672.72 million worth P3.69 billion.

Most traded shares were led by Metrobank, up 0.72 percent to P70; Metro Pacific, down 3.15 percent to P4.30 and SM Investments Corp., down 1.11 percent to P890. DMS
