Stocks finish lower

The Philippine Stock Exchange closed 42.60 points lower to 7,772.93 points on Monday as several blue chip issues declined. Volume reached 1.39 billion shares valued at P7.48 billion. In the broader market, there were 112 losers and 85 gainers while 50 shares were unchanged. Foreigners were net sellers, with selling at P3.37 billion and buying at P3.48 billion. Most active shares were led by Universal Robina Corp., down 1.6 percent to P159.50, Ayala Land down 3.97 percent to P37.45 and PLDT, down 4.33 percent to P1,679. The peso gained seven centavos to close at P49.69. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $558 million from $802.38 million. DMS
