Stocks gain after dipping the previous day

Stocks ended higher on Wednesday in heavy trading following Tuesday's decline as the Philippine Stock Exchange index gained 56.62 points to 8,219.32.
In the broader market, however, there were 107 gainers, 106 decliners and 42 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.16 billion shares worth P7.09 billion. Foreigners were net buyers as they bought P3.93 billion worth of shares compared to selling P3.55 billion.
Most actively traded shares included BDO, up 0.08 percent to P129.90, Alliance Global Corp., up 4.39 percent to P15.70, Megaworld up 2.12 percent to P5.31 and Bloomberry Resorts, up 4.72 percent to P10.66.
The peso closed at P50.985 against the US dollar from the previous day's P50.915. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $655 million from $740.20 million on Tuesday. DMS
