Stocks gain for second day, peso ends week at P51.965:$1

Stocks gained for the second straight day Friday as trading winded up for the week.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 103.60 points to 7,721.02. In the broader market, there were 124 gainers, 69 decliners and 52 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.6 billion shares worth P7.1 billion from Thursday's 780.9 million shares valued at P5.1 billion. Foreigners were net sellers despite the index's gain. Sellers reached P4.5 billion while buyers took in P3.8 billion worth of shares,
Most active shares were led by Universal Robina Corp., 0.51 percent up to P138.50; Ayala Corp., up 3.23 percent to P960 and Metro Pacific, up 5.47 percent to P482.
The peso closed at P51.965 against the US dollar from P52.15. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines was at $806.05 million from $736.2 million. DMS
