Stocks gain slightly

Stocks closed slightly higher on Monday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange Index closed 38.95 points up to 7,706.57. But the broader market was lower, with 96 declines and 92 gainers while 42 issues were unchanged. Volume reached 1.81 billion shares valued at P12.01 billion. Foreigners were buyers after getting P3.25 billion worth of shares while sellers unloaded P2.98 billion. Gainers were led by Benguet B, up 8.21 percent to P2.24 and Filipino Fund, up 8.02 percent to P8.35. Most actives issues were led by Ayala Land Inc, gaining 1.87 percent to P38.10 Megaworld, finishing 2.59 percent higher to P4.35. The peso rose 10 centavos to end at P49.77. Volume was at $429.1 million from $473.8 million at the Philippine Dealing System. DMS
