Stocks lower, but peso sustains rally

Stocks ended lower on Wednesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index finishing 109.05 points lower to 8,613.65.
In the broader market, there were 128 decliners, 82 gainers and 46 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.92 billion worth P9.53 billion from Tuesday's 3.47 billion valued at P7.85 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, unloading P4.37 billion while buying P3.86 billion.
Most active shares were led by Now Corp., up 3.29 percent to P15.06; PXP Energy Corp., up 18.89 percent to P18, Universal Robina Corp., down 3.82 percent to P146.20 and Ayala Land, down 2.17 percent to P45.
The peso gained for the second straight day, settling at P52..10 against the US dollar from Tuesday's P52.24. Volume went down slightly to $965.95 million from $977.80 million on the previous day. DMS
