Stocks lower, peso gains

Stocks closed lower on Tuesday with the main index finishing more than one percent The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended 111.45 points down to 7,906.60. In the broader market, there are 114 decliners, 86 gainers and 45 unchanged. Volume reached 864.59 million valued at P6.18 billion Foreigners were net sellers, unloading P3.52 billion compared to purchases of P3.19 billion. Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down 2.38 percent to P41 and Megaworld Corp, up 1.04 percent to P4.85. The peso strengthened for the second straight day to finish at P50.37 from P50.40 against the US dollar. Volume amounted to $432.40 million from $509.20 million on Monday at the Philippine Dealing System. DMS
