Stocks lower, peso gains

Stocks closed lower on Tuesday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange index finished down 56.86 points to 8,365.96.
In the broader market, there 116 decliners, 89 gainers and 47 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.56 billion shares worth P6.87 billion, Foreigners were net sellers, with P4.06 billion sold while P3.87 billion were bought.
Most traded shares were led by BDO Unibank, down 2.91 percent to P150.30; Metrobank, unchanged at P80, PLDT, down 5.84 percent to P1450 and Jollibee, down 1.92 percent to P244.60.
The peso closed at P50.39 against the US dollar from P50.48. Volume reached $604.70 million at the Philippine Dealing System from $467.50 million on Monday. DMS
