Stocks pare losses, peso up

Stocks rallied after the index fell behind by at least 80 points to close flat on Friday. The Philippine Stock Exchange ended 0.87 points lower to 7,815.53 points. At the broad market there were 124 losers, 81 gainers and 33 remaining steady Volume reached 2.83 billion shares valued at P8.95 billion .Foreigners were selling P4.86 billion worth of stocks compared to buying P4.43 billion. Most active shares were Universal Robina Corp, down 2.99 percent to P162.50 and Ayala Land, down 1.02 percent to P39. PLDT gained 1.92 percent to P1755 despite reporting lower first quarter income. The peso gained 15 centavos to close at P49.76 Volume at the Philippine Dealing System rose to $802.38 million from $456 million on Thursday. DMS
