Stocks, peso end higher

Philippine stocks ended slightly higher while the peso surged eight centavos against the US dollar on Monday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended at 7,109.03, up 44.70 points. In the broader market, there were 97 gainers, 78 decliners and 45 shares unchanged.
The peso finished at P53.56 against the US dollar from Friday's P53.64. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $645.25 million from Friday's $723 million.
At the PSE, volume amounted to 552.99 million shares worth P 4.23 billion from Friday's 892.97 million shares valued at P4.97 billion.
Most traded shares were led by PXP Energy Corp., down 81.66 points to P17.80; Ayala Land, down 0.13 percent to P38.70 and Bloomberry, up 0.62 percent to P8.16. DMS
