Stocks, peso end slightly higher

Stocks closed slightly for the second day and the peso rose on Thursday.
The peso finished at P53.43 against the US dollar from P53.46 on the previous day. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $501.28 million from $527.3 million on Wednesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 7,853.16, up 22.20. In the broader market, there were 99 gainers, 97 decliners and 50 shares were unchanged.
Volume reached 1.25 billion shares worth P6.32 billion from Wednesday's 3.03 billion valued at P6.2 billion.
Most traded shares were led by BDO Unibank, up 0.39 percent to P130; Ayala Land, down 0.22 percent to P44.70 and SM Prime, down 0.38 percent to P38.85. DMS
