Stocks, peso end slightly higher

Philippine stocks recovered in the afternoon session on a rainy trading day Tuesday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 7,381.68, up 12.24 points. In the broader market, there were 91 gainers, 90 decliners and 55 shares unchanged.
The peso gained to end at P53.39 against the US dollar from P53.53 on Monday. Volume rose to $504.59 million from the previous day's $290.75 million.
Volume declined to 456 million shares worth P3.59 billion from Monday's 919.8 million valued at P 4.28 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P2.43 billion sold and P1.95 billion bought.
Most traded shares were led by Metrobank, up 0.29 percent to P70; Ayala Land, up 0.81 percent to P37.40 and Universal Robina Corp., up 1.63 percent to P130.80. DMS
