Stocks, peso gain

Stocks closed higher on Friday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange closed 14.71 points higher to 7,578.16 points. In the broader market, there were 107 gainers compared to 88 decliners with 44 issues unchanged. Japanese stock brokerage firm Daiwa bought a 14.9 percent stake into online brokerage firm COL Financial Group Inc, the exchange said. Gainers were led by Keppel Philippines Properties Inc, which rose 39.05 percent to P5.59 and Macay Properties, up 19.54 percent to P28.45. The peso closed at P49.76 for a gain of nine centavos from Thursday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System went down to $384.6 million from the previous sessions’ $582.3 million. DMS
