Stocks, peso gain

Stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index gaining 25.55 points to end at 8,359.61.
But the broader market was relatively flat with 97 gainers, 96 decliners and 43 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.1 billion shares worth P6.3 billion. Foreign selling edged foreign buying, with P3.716 billion sold and P 3.715 billion bought.
Most actively traded shares were led by SM Investment Corp., down 1.52 percent to P975, Universal Robina Corp, down 4.17 percent to P150 and BDO Unibank, up 0.33 percent to P153.50, an all-time high.
The peso closed at P50.48 against the US dollar, up three centavos from Tuesday. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $576.95 million from $665.60 million. DMS
