Stocks, peso gain slightly

Stocks rose on Tuesday, boosted by property issues and Petron Corp. The Philippine Stock Exchange Index closed 18.14 points higher to 7,791.07. At the broader market, there were 106 decliners, 92 gainers and 49 shares unchanged. Volume reached 1.46 billion shares worth P8.29 billion. Foreigners were net buyers with P4.94 billion purchases compared to selling to P4.17 billion. Ayala Land gained 3.87 percent to P38.90 while Petron rose 3.2 percent to P10.32. The peso gained slightly to P48.68 from P48.69. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System rose to $701 million to $558 million.
