Stocks, peso slightly up

Stocks gained while the peso closed slightly higher in reduced volume on Thursday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index went by 14.33 points to 8,612.44 points. But the market breadth remained negative with 147 decliners, 68 gainers and 42 shares unchanged.
Volume rose to 2.13 billion shares worth P10.69 billion from Wednesday's 1.8 billion shares valued at P8.9 billion. Foreigners were net sellers for the 15th session, unloading P3.47 billion while buying P3.1 billion worth of shares.
Most active shares were led by Now Corp., down 8.63 percent to P13.98; PXP Energy Corp., up 39.68 percent to P12.32; Metro Pacific, down 4.46 percent to P5.85 and Ayala Corp., up 5.29 percent to P1,095.
This was the final trading session at the PSE building in Ayala Ave, Makati. Transactions will be held at its new office on 5 th Avenue cor. 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The peso hit the day's low of P52.08 against the US dollar before it finished at P52. On Wednesday, it finished at P52.12. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $578.50 million from $939.90 million. DMS
