Stocks pull back from low as PSE index ends slightly higher

Stocks rallied after losing ground on Wednesday as the Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 8.34 points higher to 7,956.73. The index fell by as much as 35 points at 1:50 pm, or one hour and 40 minutes before the market ended transactions.
In the broader market, there were 101 decliners, 91 gainers and 53 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.28 billion shares worth P5.87 billion. Foreigners were net sellers with selling of P3.12 billion and purchases of P3.06 billion.
Among most active shares were SM Prime, down 0.59 percent, to P33.60 and Bloomberry Resorts, up 3.53 percent to P11.13.
The peso closed at P51.13 against the US dollar from P51.11. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $567.45 million from Tuesday's $548.90 million. DMS
