Stocks rally to close slightly higher

Stocks recovered after a weak opening but finished Tuesday slightly higher.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 8,048.72, up 9.27 points. In the broader market, there were 104 decliners, 98 gainers and 45 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 2.33 billion shares worth P6.11 billion from Monday's 1.59 billion shares valued at P4.55 billion.
Among most traded shares were Ayala Corp., down 0.54 percent to P918; Jollibee, down 1.2 percent to P296.40; Ayala Land, up 1.46 percent to P41.60 and SM Investment Corp., up 3.17 percent to P975.
The peso closed at P52.08 against the US dollar from P52.035. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $657.50 million from Monday's $507 million. DMS
