Stocks slide on relatively low volume

The Philippine stock index slid further on relatively thin volume on Tuesday.
The index finished 146.86 points lower 7,233.39. In the broader market, there were 161 declinersm 57 gainers and 34 issues unchanged.
Volume reached 1,22 billion worth P703 billion from Monday's 1.68 billion valued at P4.77 billion Foreigners were net sellers with P4.31 billion sold and P3.85 billion bought.
Most traded shares were Metro Pacific, down 2.54 percent to P4.61; Puregold, down 9.14 percent to P 47.20; Ayala Corp., down 3.91 percent to P 909 and Banco de Oro, down 3.55 percent to P133.
The peso closed at P52.05 against the US dollar from P52.07 on Monday. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $427.3 million from $518.1 million. DMS
